Las Vegas is starting to heat up.  Temperature is upwards of 90 degrees these days.  I’ve fought turning my air conditioning on for a few weeks but I can’t fight it anymore.  I’ve spoken to many HVAC companies in my years as a real estate agent and have received lots of great advice on how to keep your HVAC running smoothly.  One of the most important things I learned was that the HVAC units actually work more efficiently at full blast then if you leave it running constantly throughout the time that you aren’t at home.  However, with temperatures in the mid to high 90’s, I set my thermostat to a comfortable 77 degrees.

Here are a few tips on how to keep your HVAC running like it should:

  1.  Change your air filters routinely to allow your unit to function more efficiently.  This will also improve the air quality in your home and keep you healthier.
  2. Don’t close your air vents…this doesn’t save energy.  In fact, it strains the unit and causes more wear and tear.
  3. Have your HVAC system inspected by a qualified technician in the fall and spring to keep it running smoothly.  I recommend getting a tune-up.  My HVAC vendor partner, AC Hero, is having a sale…Get a Precision Tune-up of your HVAC system for only $39.99.  They will check:
    1. Compressor
    2. Refrigerant Pressure
    3. Coil Clean and Motors
    4. All Electrical Components
    5. Thermostat and Wiring
    6. Air Flow
  4. Duct installation if the key to efficiency and can save you 10-30% on every dollar spent.
