If Every Family Spent An Extra $10 A Month Locally, We Would All Feel Better About The Economy.

A recent report from American Express suggests supporting local, independently-owned businesses in the neighborhood over renovating your home to increase its value.  Just think. If every family in the country spent an extra $10 a month with a locally-owned, independent business instead of a national chain, over $56,642,150* would be directly returned to the Las Vegas community. That means better schools, better roads, more support for police, fire and rescue departments and stronger local economies.

Bill Brunelle of Independent We Stand, a national small business organization, says independent business is the lifeblood of the American economy. He insists studies prove that buying local whenever possible improves the economy from the neighborhood level up. Independent We Stand's campaign is to create positive awareness of owning and supporting local businesses. To learn more about the organization and their mission, please click here .

* Based on Civic Economics Andersonville Study of Retail Economics: When you spend $100 at an independent business, $68 returns to the local economy versus $43 when spent with a national chain. Based on U.S. Census projection of 115 million households.
